A family of versatile salt and pepper mills designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard. Beautiful, useful, and eminently collectible, these wood pieces hold a unique place in the world of functional art. Made of acacia, the top is the shaker and the bottom is the grinder. The grinder has an adjustable porcelain grinding mechanism, which is suitable for grinding both pepper and salt (salt will seize-up a metal grinder). The adjustment is for fine to coarse grinding. Whereas most mills have a metal knob at the top to adjust the grind, and to hold the whole assembly together; we locate the adjusting knob at the bottom - right at the end of the grinder itself. This provides for a nicer, cleaner, all-wood style. It also lets us incorporate a unique inner nylon sleeve to hold the two wood halves together, making it much easier to open for filling - just pull the two wood sections apart, pour in the peppercorns, and push the halves back together. It couldn't be easier. Each mill has a distinct personality and name Jack, Jane, Rosie, Audrey and Hank.
